Refining

Oil refining, also known as petroleum refining, is a complex industrial process that transforms crude oil into various usable petroleum products. It involves a series of physical and chemical processes to separate, upgrade, and purify the components of crude oil.

The products that are currently manufactured include Furnace oil, Fuel Oil, Marine & Industrial gas oil, which are sold to buyers throughout the Middle East and Asia

With its up to date technologies and highly skilled workforce, EORC is now able to achieve refining through-put of up to 180 Metric Tonnes per Day which equates to around 5000 Metric Tonnes per month. With additional investment EORC has the capability to increase its refining capacity by an additional 2000 Metric Tonnes, thus taking the total refinery through-put to 7000 Metric Tonnes per Month.

Our Oil Refining Capabilities:

The refining process for heavy crude oil differs from that for light crude oil due to the varying compositions and properties of these two types of crude oil. Here are the key differences:

  1. Composition: Heavy crude oil contains a higher percentage of large hydrocarbon molecules (long-chain hydrocarbons) and impurities like sulfur, metals, and asphaltenes. Light crude oil, on the other hand, consists of smaller, simpler hydrocarbon molecules with fewer impurities.

  2. Processing Complexity: Refining heavy crude oil is generally more complex and requires additional processing units, including more extensive desulfurization, hydrocracking, and coking units, to break down the large hydrocarbons and remove impurities.

The purpose of oil refining is to transform crude oil into a wide range of usable petroleum products. This process is essential in the petroleum industry for several reasons:

  1. Product Diversification: Crude oil is a mixture of various hydrocarbons and impurities. Refining allows for the separation and purification of these components, resulting in a diverse range of valuable products with different properties and uses.
